“Oh No, It’s Tax Season!”

Video

Everyone hates taxes, except the tax services that are overflowing with business this time of year.
After working on this enterprise package I realized how many people actually go to tax services places, basically everyone! Jackson Hewitt customers spoke with us about how they have put their trust into these companies to professionally work on their taxes to get them what they deserve.
That made me wonder what these businesses are like when it’s not tax season, when everyone is rushing to finish up before April 15. The manager at Jackson Hewitt, Byron Bolton, said some of the locations aren’t actually open year around but only for the beginning of the year until most of the tax extensions are completed and filed.
He also said during tax season here in Stillwater, the three locations file anywhere from 500 to 600 customers’ taxes. I thought that was interesting considering there are at least four other tax services in the area.
That made me realize the high demand for these services during tax season and how rare it is these days for someone to do their own taxes. With all of these online tax services available, I would think the number of customers who go in to file their taxes would have decreased recently.
I think the most interesting thing I learned from the interview was that taxes this year are different than any other because of the fiscal cliff the U.S. is dealing with right now. He didn’t go much into detail but said because of new tax laws and changes; all of the different tax forms were not complete until Feb. 14. This is really slowing this tax season down because everything “is a little behind”.
Bolton mentioned a year ago today he would have had a slow day, but this year they have been swamped!

Rossi the Approval Poodle

Video

Rossi the Approval Poodle and her owner, Judy Savage, ran around campus after visiting with friend Anne Hargis.
The 6-year-old black Standard poodle, full name “Diana Rossi” came to promote the book that has made her famous, “Rossi the Approval Poodle”.
Savage and Ross were set for a meet and greet that was put on by the OSU Center of Veterinary Health Sciences at McElroy Hall from 5:30-6 p.m.
The event had about 30 children and parents there to get a free book “signed” by Rossi herself.
The book, which promotes better living, was brought about after Savage had a conversation with her 4-year-old granddaughter, June Marie.
Before the book made Rossi famous, she was still visiting children’s hospitals, nursing homes and libraries to spread cheer.
Rossi started at 18 months old as a therapy dog going from patient to patient brightening their day.
The book can be purchased on the website, http://www.rossitheapprovalpoodle.com for $15 with free shipping and handling. The website also features a blog that shares insight of their visits.

She cra cra

I saw this clip once on Facebook and realized the girl was from Oklahoma.  She is pretty talented.  I can hardly say my own name backward, I could never in a million years blurt out these words backward like they should be pronounced.  This video has gone viral and made it on numerous talk shows and websites.  I also watched a special where Dr. Phil interviewed her on his show and asked her to blurt out his favorite words backward.

This video never gets old, and I never refrain from crying

Now I am usually the last person to cry in a movie or after watching a sappy show.  But when I watched this video about a year ago, this is one thing that makes me a little teary-eyed every time.  I think everyone should watch it, and it’s not even three minutes long!  This video is about the cutest, sweetest little lion that is raised in a contained backyard by his owner until he gets too big.  He is sent to live in the wild.  After a couple of years, the previous owner who raised him wanted to go back to see him.  Scientists and the zoologists explained to him that there was no way the lion, Christian, was going to remember him.  On the video you see the owner and Christian reunite for the first time.  He runs to his owner and gently puts his paws around him like he is giving him the biggest hug.  Then he introduces the man to his “girlfriend,” the lion remembered him and you see how true the love between the two still is.  He even introduced his lion girlfriend to his previous owner for acceptance.  It was precious!

Summer Beach Bod

With summer just around the corner and my trip to Mexico with my boyfriend and my family, I am in major need of a diet and some structure in my life.  Even though there are only three weeks of school left, what better time than now to start sucking it up and getting busy!  Ideally, I would have already been losing weight and watching what I eat but here I am eating my leftover Pizza from lunch.  Anyway, it’s better late than never! I have more motivation than ever because my boyfriend is in week 10 of 2o working toward the Mr. Oklahoma Bodybuilding Competition held in Tulsa June 9.  He has been on the strictest diet for the last 10 weeks and has worked out sometimes twice a day but at least once a day.  Now that takes a lot of hardwork and effort!  I want that kind of motivation to do something and have a goal to look forward to.  We’ll see how this goes!

Summertime

Not only am I looking forward to the next three weeks of the spring semester to coming to an end, I am really looking forward to moving into my OWN place for once.  Of course, since I have been out of high school I have lived on my own but I have always had roommates.  For the last two years and four semesters, I have been living with myself, two dogs and four roommates, two of which, are boys.  What I was thinking the day I signed a lease stating I would live with two boys, I have NO idea.  It was a horrible idea.  Not only am I extremely picky and tighty about everything in my house, I am also not much or babying and caring for people who are completely capable of doing it themselves.  If there is one thing I have learned living with four other individuals is that people are completely different, some are independent and some spend their entire lives being babied and have absolutely no responsibility for themselves or let alone anything else.  I am also pretty excited to move into my place because it is literally right behind Eskimo Joe’s and will be even closer to campus than I am right now.  So, come June 1 I will be 100 percent I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T! Can’t wait!

I usually am pretty good about following up on stories and important stuff going on in my hometown of Kellyville, Okla.  I was shocked when I was reading post after post on Facebook about a girl that I went to school with, who was a couple  of years younger, had been going through something tragic.  I thought it could be pretty serious so I went snooping on my local Tulsa channel news apps on my iPhone.  Then I came across it, the story about the woman I went to school with and her 4-year-old daughter.  The story was first published saying an intruder came into the woman and her live-in boyfriend’s home and raped the woman’s daughter while the couple’s son was in the home as well.  It didn’t really add up to me and sounded as if the boyfriend could have been the suspect.  The story went on to state that the family’s dog had been stabbed to death and thrown by the neighbor’s trailer.  I checked up on the story and later found that the boyfriend was guilty of rape and then I noticed the change of relationship status on Facebook.  Thank God the victim and her mother are getting away from the man who would do this.  It’s crazy to believe I know this poor family.

-TUPAC HOLOGRAM COACHELLA PERFORMANCE

After I was already super upset about not attending the Coachella Music Festival in California this past week, I was even more upset when I found out what it was that was played during one of the performances.  I am pretty sure the video has went viral and it is all I have heard about since it happened a couple of days ago.  A performance with a few popular artists has surfaced and gone viral because of the realness to the Tupac Shakur tribute and performance.  The performance was made possible by holographic images that were played on a screen.   The performance looks so real that it has conspiracists and fans wondering if Tupac really is still alive or not.  Obviously, he isn’t really still alive but I did find the performance and video very interesting and a good watch this week.  However, after all the talk and hype, I was expecting something a little more crazy and entertaining.

My sweet baby Rocky

This is the sweetest puppy ever.  But he really is the most evil dog I know.  He looks adorable but he growls and barks and makes the oddest sounds ALL  of the time.  The good thing about him, is he definitely can entertain himself.  He has the best time with all of his toys and my roommates schnauzer, Scruffy, they’ve been best friends since they  met.  Rocky is four months old now, I got him as a Christmas gift from my boyfriend.  It was the first Christmas present from him ever (it was our first Christmas together).  We went all the way to Henryetta to a sketchy Walmart to get sweet baby Rocky.  We picked him out from a picture we received in a text from the lady.  I picked Rocky because he was a boy, the color I wanted and was cute because he was so fat and fluffy.  I know why now, he eats way too much and my roommates worry he’ll be obese and unhappy before to long.  So we’re back to a cup of food a day.  Anyway, we read up on them, and I got the idea because we wanted to both really like the dog.  I wanted a smaller furry and fluffy dog and he wanted a big manly dog with short hair.  We settled on this middle size dog with medium to short length hair.  He was perfect! I also have a corgi that is about 12 years old now, named Chloe, I got her for my ninth birthday from my grandparents.  She is also really fat and has an eating problem. But she’s still kickin! She really doesn’t like the visits from Rocky.  Even though I think he gets the idea that is his mom.  Anyway, I love my puppy!!!
